Grazia and Riccardo
“We feel at home — amongst friends.”
Grazia is 75, Riccardo is 85. They married 30 years ago, already as adults, after meeting on a cruise through the United States and South America. They love to travel, to read, to go to the theatre, and creativity.
When Riccardo retired, they sold their home near Milan and bought a beautiful farmhouse in the Crete Senesi. They renovated it meticulously and with extraordinary taste, shaping it to reflect their personalities, their culture, and their relationship: a large home with an olive grove, an outdoor pool… and one kilometre of dirt road before reaching the village.
Then Riccardo fell. Nothing serious, but enough to leave a pool of blood after cutting a vein in his leg.
The ambulance couldn’t find the house. And mobile reception was poor because the farmhouse was so isolated. That’s when Grazia realised they needed a different way to live their beautiful love story.
So they put the farmhouse up for sale and, once they found the right buyer, they moved to Guild Siena — bringing their beautiful furniture, gifting us their books, and of course arriving with their cat.
Today, Grazia says she barely remembers the farmhouse on the hill. Their life is here now. Surrounded by the community. Cared for and supported. And protected by a strong network of meaningful social relationships.
Independent and creative souls like Grazia and Riccardo will find plenty to enjoy at Guild Siena: clay sculpting and floral design masterclasses, book presentations with the authors themselves — hosted in our beautiful Limonaia, and guided excursions to uncover the most hidden, secret corners of the city. In short, everything to delight the eyes and enrich life with beauty, discovery, and joy.
