Open and inclusive communities for all ages is at the core of what Guild Living does. By founding the STOPageism campaign, we aim to end ageism. We don’t do that alone but together with a wide variety of partner organisations that share the same belief and goal.
Better together Through partnerships
Through STOPageism we bring together 50+ organisations including companies, charities, and individuals such as Alzheimer’s Research, Care England, the University of Bath, Ashton Applewhite from Old School and TED Talks, CBRE and many others.
The second focus is to make our cities more accessible and age-friendly for people of all ages – inside and outside of buildings.
The third focus is to make services such as technology and financial services easier and fairer to use.
CAMPAIGNING TO MAKE CHANGES THAT COULD GREATLY IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES
There are three goals we are working towards to stop ageism:
- Measure society’s ageism over time with a national ageism survey.
- Change the negative portrayal of older people in the media.
- Add more communities to the WHO’s Age Friendly Cities and Communities Movement
Educating society on ageist issues
By raising awareness for ageist issues, we hope to make a positive change in people’s lives and society. The STOPageism partners are committed to sharing research and stories and interacting with the media to change attitudes towards ageing.
